Kenneth Guilbert - Auctioneer and Appraiser
My Name is Ken Guilbert, and I am a Pennsylvania licensed and bonded auctioneer and appraiser. I was licensed in Pennsylvania in 2010, but have over 30 years of experience in buying and selling antiques and collectables for myself and other entities I have worked for. At one time or another, I have worked with a half dozen auctioneers, and currently work full-time for Briggs Auction in Garnet Valley, PA,  and work with Earl Macilwain in Trappe, PA.
I graduated from the Reading Area Community College's Auctioneering Program in May, 2010, in a class with 11 other talented auctioneers. That program is one of three in Pennsylvania approved by the State. Shortly after, I passed the State Auctioneering Exam, and became licensed and bonded.
I graduated from Philadelphia University in 1990 with a degree in Accounting, preparatory to owning my own antiques business in the Downingtown Farmer's Market in Downingtown, PA. I also worked with John Hardiman and Paul Gerhart, auctioneers out of Fort Washington, PA, where I received an incredible education regarding "the Big 3" in estate sales: furniture, art, and rugs.
I started working with the Kulpsville Antiques Market in Kulpsville, PA in the late '90's through 2007, and was also sporadically working with J. Kent Lenahan, an auctioneer in Ambler, PA. Currently, I have my office in a great ephemera warehouse called "The Archive" in Lansdale, PA, owned by a friend of mine, Dale Mechalas, and work closely with Briggs Auction and Earl Macilwain.  I have also had the honor of working with Sanford Alderfer Auction during my practicum requirement for my auctioneering class. The first item I sold: a $15,000 period Chippendale chair!
